About Our City
Come visit us...
Mason City is rich in history. We are within a block of the Historic Park Inn Hotel, the last remaining Frank Lloyd Wright designed hotels in the world. It has been recently restored to the tune of $10M and is a great place to stay while visiting Mason City.
There are other Architectural tourism opportunities in Mason City that are worth visiting. Mason City hosts the largest centralized development of Prairie Style Architecture outside of Chicago. The development is called Rock Crest-Rock Glen and features homes designed by some of the world's most famous architects including Wright, Walter Burley Griffin, Marion Mahoney-Giffin and Francis Barry Byrne.
In addition to Architectural tourism, Mason City is also birthplace to famed Broadway composer, Meredith Willson. There is a big museum if you are into that kind of thing.
We have a nice art museum full of artistic stuff. A fun and unique art garden in also located three blocks away from our place. It's definitely worth checking out.
We have plenty of great restaurants and bars that are worth checking out too.
Clear Lake is only eight miles west and it's the place for summertime fun. It also is home of the Surf Ballroom which is a historic dance hall where Buddy Holly played his last show before dying in a plane crash in 1959. They have a pretty great rock and roll museum.
